I used Fedora Core 1:) Basically (I'll try to find the instructions when I get a chance) you install all the necessary RPMs to a directory other than the root. Then, create an image and upload it to a flash card. There are some other tweaks (like using tempfs for the /tmp partition) but otherwise everything worked like a charm.
