I have an X100P connected to a phone line that is used for ADSL. The DSL modem is connected directly to the wall jack. A regular phone was connected on this line through an "ADSL line filter".DEFINITIVE ANSWER:
One kind soul responded off list. At any rate, it was the phone company that had setup one line and forgotten the other. The callerid *is* being received now that they set it upo right.
