Just for a heads-up, if you're trying to play some Music on Hold, and it seems like it has strange undertones and echoy lag, I found a solution (at least it fixed my problem).
I was encoding at 8 kHz. When I resampled to 16 kHz, the problem went away. Sadly, it took me the better part of a day to figure it out, so I thought I'd save someone the trouble.
