Roger that Martin, ...dirty power is a real bite in some places. Im fortunate things are well behaved here, (In 20 years of computing Ive only vaporized one UPS) But everything of high value here is on a UPS. Linux * box, cablemodem, switches, WAP are all backed up on UPS. Buy a cheap one that exceeds the wattage you need for every device or cluster them, and remove the little tiny gell-cell and tie it to a truck battery kept on float at about 70-100ma and youre golden. (Of course maintain water and terminal cleanlyness) I also ran a separate line to the computer room, kept all the other stuff off of it, and have a OVP circuit breaker instaled in the box. I'd rather the system went down than burned up. Having worked in telephony I understand the value of battery backup. Gald to hear the ticking problem was resolved.

I found that it also can come from the power that you are powering the
PC with.

My asterisk box emit's ticks especially on my ISDN phones, it didn't do
so before i moved it recently and the only difference i can see is the
powerbar.

Originally i had the box on a APC powerbar with filters etc. Now it's on a plain one without filters.
Moving it back on a powerbar with filters solves the problem.

Kind regards,
