His response was not wholly inappropriate. Moreover, he has been tremendously helpful over the past months that I've read the list.
I have found that there is a simple principle that pervades the open source community. That is, make the effort to do a least a little research online before troubling others with your question. It's a bandwidth management issue. Not network bandwidth, human attention span and s/n ratio of the list. Google first...then ask if you don't find. You gotta want it. You gotta work for it, but the community is here and will support you in the end. The endless string of silly questions (some from me) that have appeared on the list is a testament to this fact. While I've pulled out my soap box....what's to "feel bad" about? None of this is personal...it's just online etiquette. This is not a kindergarden class. Noone here is tasked with making anyone feel good. When you get your * install working as you like you feel really good.
