FWIW, I used to be in Covad territory with a $400/month 1.1MB SDSL over a dry pair. Now I'm connecting via SBC/Ameritech, and basic dialtone service around here is only about $6/month, including all fees & taxes. Even if it were a buck or two more than a dry pair, it might be worth having the extra phone-line on site.
