Thanks for the help-offer, but I think the disadvantages of being a linux-idiot and attempting a very ambitious install, such as Gentoo, outweigh the few advantages which Gentoo may or may not award me. Since this is a home-office PBX, I can afford a slightly less than optimal kernel which (in Mandrake's case) only takes an hour or two to install. My foray into Gentoo was painful, and it seemed to be hitting on all kinds of hardware issues.
More to the point: I'm not smart enough to install Gentoo, but I'm smart enough to admit defeat and move on. :) > -----Original Message----- > From: Stefan de Konink [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Tuesday, October 26, 2004 1:15 PM > To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion > Subject: Re: [Asterisk-Users] Gentoo > > All the servers I've installed from phase - 1, mainly > mail/webservers, > run bright and shiny with linux2.6/glibc-nptl and that kind of stuff. > The only problem that will happen with installing Asterisk is > the __user > cumma in ixjuser.h. > > So if you post your problem here or on the gentoo forums/buzilla you > probably get the help you need. > > Stefan _______________________________________________ Asterisk-Users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users
