Essentially I wish to have buttons on a panel (like the Snom 220's extension board) that show when people are on the phone or off the phone for a receptionist.
As far as I know, you can't do this with asterisk, at least not easily.
From what I've read, most people call this "shared lines" or something
similar. I've heard that MGCP does support something similar to this,
but that Asterisk does not specifically support it.

Hey Thanks for the info! Wow, that makes the Snom 190/200 perfect for a small office of 2-6 users. You can switch them away from their old crappy PBX, and you don't even have to retrain them!
