I should reply back now and say that I managed to get the Tecom IP2005 from solwise.co.uk working with Asterisk.
I did however buy a Grandstream Budge Tone when I had almost given up on the Tecom one, so now I have both! :) The external quality of rhe grandstream is not as nice as the Tecom but they it is a bit cheaper. I'm still in the very early stages of Asterisk so I'm not sure what features the Tecom one does/not support yet. Thanks to those who replied.
