I've a problem connecting uniVoice (http://voice.uni.it) from asterisk.
Using my account data I can place a call smoothly using xlite or my
budgetone phone directly, but I'm not able to use uniVoice as a peer
from asterisk.
Registration seems to work correctly, but when I try do dial, the sip
authentication fails every time.
Their tech people told me that they are unable to make asterisk working
properly due to some asterisk authentication features lacks.
The problem persists using chan_sip2 too.
So, the question is:
how can I help investigating the problem to obtain some good bugs report
for digium ??

If space is at a premium (and you only need 1 PCI slot) have a look at this one: http://www.supermicro.com/products/system/1U/6014/SYS-6014P-8R.cfm
I was told they will soon release a similar model with hot swappable SATA II slots.
Let us know if you actually get to test the SIP -> g.729 96 channel setup and what the outcome was.

any hoops I need to jump through while installing Fedora Core 2 or 3. My
installs typically take 20 mins (start-end, including extensive
individual package selection) which imho beats the lightyears it takes
Gentoo to compile all the apps. Fedora Core 2 has worked fine for me
running Asterisk for a long time now and I recommend that over Fedora
Core 3 due to the introduction of udev which requires additional tweaks
and too cutting edge versions of gcc for my taste.
Additional tweaks are classed as "hoops to jump through" in my view. You're right about one thing though: We don't need another distro war.
By the way, a light year is a unit of distance - not time. :-)

DDR2Dell is soon to release the PowerEdge 1850: 2U, Dual 3.6Ghz Xenon, 1Gb133MhzRAM, Dual 36GB Ultra320 SCSI RAID, Hot swap Powersupply, one 64bitPCI and one 64bit 100Mhz PCI for about $3,000.
This machine is already released and in production in lots of places.
Interesting. Says on Dells website that it won't be released until December. Hmm.
Ex 2b: All outgoing 96 calls as SIP are G729.
Of all your scenarios, I believe this is the least likely to be possible. I also doubt very many people have tried it on any recent hardware, but it'd be interesting to find out :-)
And this one won't happen because of all the 711->729 transcoding it has
to do?
Thanks, Matthew
