I have this same problem with Cisco Phones. Someone will try and call an
extension and asterisk will say "Can't create SIP channel" and I immediately
do "sip show peers" and the phone in question still has an IP listed.

If I know for fact that my 10 phones will never change IP addresses, how can
I make the registration/expire times something alot larger, like 24 hours?

-Matthew

Hi Matthew,

From what I understand, the expiry time is set by the phone. If the phone do not set the expiry time during registration, asterisk will use the default time of 3600 seconds. I do not have Cisco phones, so you might want to try to see if you can set the expiry time in the Cisco phone.

**Note: The above are base on my investigation done previously, please take it with a pitch of salt.
Perhaps someone can verify my findings.

Regards,
Chin
