In the meantime I'm hoping that it is possible to use the built-in database and be able to run some kind of "autostart" context. Does such a facility exist?
Without getting into details, I would create a call file in the outgoing spool directory of asterisk within the asterisk startup script which calls a specific application.
Haven't tried, but should easily work.
Let me know, how it works.
