Get an APC power switch, hook it up to a network in the vicinity of your * box and make sure you can reach it from the outside. If the box fails to boot you can remotely power cycle it.

If you need a rocksolid solution have a look at astlinux that can boot * from a compact flash card in read only mode which makes it very hard to break :)
