I'll agree with that sentence. There are many times when even STUN and so on isn't going to help. In Guatemala, a lot of people end up with private IPs, behind two NATs, etc. I've seen them aggressively timeout connections, limit the range of ports available for NAT (to a ridiculously low number), etc. etc. We gave up on SIP and are now using IAX for our customer phones.
