Not true; this is only a "known issue" for those who do not run asterisk as root.
Ok, I'll correct. I would like to be able to set in the Makefile which user I'll be using, so that permissions can be set accordingly. No problem AFAIAC if the default user is root. Perhaps time for an autoconf?
Call Digium and either get the card RMA'd or let them get in to your machine ot see what they can do. (likely the latter before the former). This is *not* normal.
