Hi all, I was wondering if someone could explain the relationship of
Asterisk, SER & Jabber (XMPP) to me. I understand that there are facilities within Asterisk to
use jabber to notify of incoming calls via XMPP clients, however I’m
trying to work out exactly where the SER server would sit in all of this and
what it’s actual role would be. This might seem like a silly question, I’m pretty new
to all this and I’m still trying to get my head around it. What are the common uses for the SER server ? Why
would someone choose to use the SER server over asterisk alone ? How does it integrate with jabber ? I’ve spent some time looking over the information on
voip-info and at the iptel site, but it’s still not becoming clear to me. Can someone give me a real world example of where they might
use this and why ? Any info would be appreciated at this stage. Thanks, Callum |
