As a test, I had a 7960 and a polycom, and made direct
calls between the two. I transferred the begeezez out of them back and
forth, sending to an incoming queue, etc. Asterisk performed very
well. Even over a vpn cable connection
(polycom>router>cablemodem>internet>cablemodem
2>wireless>server>asterisk>cisco) this worked well, and with no
noticiable quality issues.

transfer it just frees the line on the phone and asterisk makes a direct
connection with the transferred party. That’s cool. Will try
that then. From: Tim

[mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Manjit Riat Hi, We are looking towards
a 8+ CO line setup (20 extensions) in our office but we do not want an
IVR(auto-attendant) feature. All incoming will be answered by a receptionist. I
have read the multi-line configuration for cisco 7960 thread in this list but
that way I believe we could only display 6 incoming lines. What will happen to
the rest? Does the expansion module for the cisco 7960 work with asterisk? Any
other phones with more lines displayed for the receptionist. Or another solution
to tackle this? Thanx |
