on the simultaneous calls asterisk behaves well on SMP sytems.. The problem could be in the many user-logon's per second you have (user logons are handled in a single thread only) With about 1000 to 1500 IAX/SIP users online per box (dual xeon 3.2 ghz) we start expiriencing problems over here .. One of the 4 processor threads goes to 0% idle
