Thanks Dean, I was trying to communicate this to him also. I manage IT/IS/Comms for an Oil company[1] and we have equipment installed at our refinery and at our drillsites. IS is a fundamental building block of all our work, and yes it does increse the cost by a factor of at least 3 and more likely 10 when all the other costs are taken in to account.
