What does an FXO port do? It takes your phone line from the wall jack
into your computer so that in and outbound calls can be processed by
asterisk. The device is essentially a winmodem.
What it does not do? It does not allow you to connect your phone set
up as an extension in asterisk.
I figure that would be a great thing to have to, so that you could
place Asterisk between your point-of-presence connection, and your
internal phones (at home)
I'll have to look to see what Digium may offer that does both FXO and ???
before I dive into playing with Asterisk :-()
