I can partially answer the loading question. I have a Redhat 9 server running with all services including the GUI and Asterisk. The only thing I've noticed is that while a call is in progress that requires translation (ie SIP to analog) scrolling windows causes a little static in the background of the call.
In terms of load, I don't notice. andrew ----------------------------------------------- Andrew Kooiman P.Eng. I have the plan of starting very small at home, by first replacing a caller-id box and voicemail. 1) can a card like the X100P FXO record the caller-id information WITHOUT taking the call (such as a regular modem with caller-id capabilities can). I have to assume so, but it's good to question assumptions. :) 2) for a single incoming POTS (PSTN?) line, and no outgoing line, just recording voicemail, is there likely much processor load at all? I would like to do voicemail on a generally lightly-loaded linux 700mhz P3 with 512MB ram. Will I even notice when it's recording voicemail from the phone-line, or should I use a dedicated machine? 3) is it easy to do voicemail-screening- play the incoming call while it's being recorded (over the server's speakers)? Thanks for any tips. -Daniel -- http://coder.com/ - Prescient Code Solutions - (519) 575-3733 [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://kw.pm.org/ - Kitchener-Waterloo Perl Mongers - [EMAIL PROTECTED] --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
