I agree - HOWEVER, H.323 *is* one of the more complicated components
of Asterisk to install, and would benefit a number of people if you
could show them how to install it. Plus there is still a lot of H.323
equipment out there that will continue to be around, and will continue
to be used. On that note, I've never even tried to compiled H.323 in
Asterisk and avoid it like the plague :)

Yep, you are. AEL is wonderful, can make things simple, and reduces
the amount of redundent information in the configuration file. It also
simplifies the process of looping. I do plan on writing something
about this at some point - we've been asked by O'Reilly to write
another article to help promote our book with a tidbit of information
not in the book already - I think this would be a great addition. At
that point, I could expand it to include a presentation on the
subject.
