// With VOIP starting to hit the big time in homes around the world,
its use in commercial areas is starting to become more widespread too.
VIA has announced a new partnership with the guys at ArenaTalk to
provide the hardware for their new PBX system.

The EPIA motherboard is housed in a Tranquil chassis, and runs the
Asterisk software platform, an open source PBX solution. The basic
package runs an ML6000 motherboard, which has a 600MHz VIA Eden CPU
inside, running with just a heatsink, keeping noise to a minimum.

What does all this mean? Well, it means that anyone can have a
VOIP-based multiple phone line system in their home for next to
nothing - well, comparatively. The basic package starts at just over
£400 and allows you to have 8 separate phone lines, as well as lovely
extras like music for when people are on hold. Haven't you always
wanted to blast out some System of a Down at callers?

If you're running a small business, the cost of a normal, commercial
phone system can be astronomical. A VOIP solution - providing you have
a fast net connection, of course - can be a simple answer to your
telephone blues. //
