I think the reason it hit the media is because of an incident in
Toronto involving a Vonage phone. Dad plugged the vonage ATA into the
house lines in the basement, not realizing that they did not (at the
time) provide an interface to the city 911 service. Daughter dials 911
for reasons I forgot and got nothing.
Why I think it hit the media is because *incumbents* want to spread
FUD about VoIP.
