Another overlooked method is port mapping to another mail server by
using ssh :)

This is the exact issue I am dealing with at the moment.
I am a novice *nix user.
Rogers blocks port 25, can anyone post the changes you would make to this
file (and the actual filename) to get me started. I have tried googling
around for a bit, there is a lot of information out there.
TIA,
Dave

Subject: [asterix] Re: [on-asterisk] setting up asterisk to
use an SMTP server
BTW, what is your reason for not using sendmail? It can be
configured to send messages to a specific SMTP server
(referred to as a 'smart host' in it's ocnfiguration file),
if you're using an internet service that doesn't allow you to
deliver your own mail, like sympatico.

I'm using [EMAIL PROTECTED] (based on CentOS). Any advice on
where to find
an RPM for ssmtp? yum doesn't find it.

Most distributions come with the option of using ssmtp as the
default mailer. This program can be configured to
redirect sendmail
requests to a specified SMTP server. Very simple set up, works
perfectly with asterisk and all your other mail-sending apps.

Is there a way to set up asterisk to use an SMTP server

sendmail? My brief search didn't turn up anything.
