Just trying to do this on a budget is the problem. I am going to hook another pstn line up in the next day or two I guess that may help answer my own question.

I dont remember what chipset it was though. in terms of noise you may want to fiddle with the rx/tx gains in your zap conf that might give a little less grief. If you are serious about keeping that setup you should think of getting a tmd400 series card.
