ztdummy will only work well with the newer kernels. Sounds like you
aren't using ulaw.  If thats the case try to use GSM, because all
audio that goes into the meetme app. gets transcoded to ulaw first.
GSM is the least expensive codec I know of. Also take a look at
app_conference, 29 lines of code last time I checked and works much
better than meetme for VoIP. I've used a slightly modified version of 
it with 75 different conference rooms, with at least 2 people in each
on a dual xeon with no issues using G729, GSM and ILBC.
