Well, here is my opinion on the matter:

If you want to use phones in a business environment, then stick with
business-class phones.

The following three are the top of the heap:
Cisco 7960 and 7940 (albeit expensive)
Polycom IP301, 501 and 601 (and the older 300, 500 and 600 are just as
good).
Snom 320 and 360 (and they have some older models as well)

There may be other business-class sets that you will hear about, but they
will not be as well known to the Asterisk commuity. Snom is well-known in
Europe, Polycom is the most popular in Canada/USA. Cisco is for when you
have too much money and want to spend it on a brand name - they are no
better than Snom/Polycom, but WAY more expensive.

Then there are what I would call consumer-class phones. These are not bad
phones at all, but they look a bit . . . er . . . Wal-mart-ish, if you will,
and they will have strange issues such as cheap plastic, stupid buttons, bad
acoustics and such. Having said all that, some of them do a pretty good job
with SIP, and they will serve very well as lab phones.
Sipura and Grandstream are the most well known products in this category.

That's all from me, but there's certainly more to know.

Jim.
