I am the VoIP provider though :)  I need to take the calls in G.729 as
to keep my bandwidth requirements reasonable. I'll be terminating to
one or more providers such as Level(3) et al via my gateway (which
will be keeping track of all the billing information).

It already looks like I'm going to have to put a pair of bonded T1's
into this site to handle the databit rate even when using G.729, let
alone increasing that from 8kbps to 64kbps.

Its highly probable that these T1's are going to be maxed out -- 92
simultaneous channels terminated.
