At VON in San Jose, we just ended up giving away books randomly, and
it seemed to work pretty good. If we got talking with someone who
sounded truly interested in Asterisk, and didn't already have a copy
of the book, we'd just say, "Here! Have a book!"
People would happily walk away with it. We also had a stand in our
booth that had a couple of copies with stickers that said "Display
Copy Only" -- a bit of self promotion :)
The business card idea is a good one (and a common one), but what do
we really need business cards for really as a group? A mailing list
for the businesses who donated money to help fund the booth -- I could
see that as an acceptable reason to be mentioned / listed for the
mailing list.
I think the books should just be given away on an ad-hoc basis -- but
I'm open to a majority rule :)
Sounds like a better plan!
