I got it. I had some modules from my old version left in 
/usr/lib/asterisk/modules.
Once I got rid of them it started.

Yes :).  But we need MORE info about your errors.   Your Asterisk should
start with the default sample configs without issues.  If it does not, there
are other issues that you might have overlooked.
