So, after some initial cursing and tinkering trying to get asterisk to do an ENUM lookup so that I could test my friend's e164.org setup, I went ahead and set up one of my own DID's with e164.org, and I think everything is working. Is anyone else using it?
One of the cooler parts I noticed is that you can register existing non-VoIP enabled PSTN numbers, and use it as an alternate route into your system if someone is calling you via VoIP. i.e., I set up my home phone number, 416-555-1212 in e164.org, and make an entry in their system: 416-555-1212 -> SIP://[EMAIL PROTECTED] Then on my asterisk server at home.ditner.com, I set up something like: sip.conf [general] context=inbound extensions.conf [inbound] exten => simon,1,Dial(SIP/simon-desk-phone) And tada, anyone who does ENUM lookups before making an outbound call will be able to come in via SIP rather than going out to the PSTN and coming back in through my PSTN interface. Cheers, spd
