I hadn't thought of that actually. But it's interesting to learn that it can be so simple.

I would tend to agree with Dave, a cheapo FXO card will give you a 600 ohm ouput which will be fine to connect directly to a Paging Amp input. You really don't need a large amp to do this. I used to buy amps from radio shack that we installed in Shoppers Drug Mart for just this purpose. If you plan on more than a few ceiling speakers or horns then you will have to go with a 70v system where each speaker has a transformer attached but for just 4 speakers you can use 8 ohm speakers that are very cheap and work well. But External paging systems are pretty affordable and they tie into Asterisk with either and FXS or FSO interface. I'm not sure if you're doing it for fun or for profit but you might find less headaches with an external system.
Anyone have any luck in setting up multi-device paging? I know it is > dependent on the phone being used and I have quite a few that apparently support it (SNOM 320, Polycom 601).
