Well Verisign offers that service but the CNAM database isn't theirs,
it's the responsibility of and owned by the incumbent in question.
Companies like Verisign, Syniverse and SNET  just subscribe to them
all and so most the companies that don't have the resources to deal
with all the US incumbents use them for the cheaper federated service
as there is a per lookup charge to the ORIGINATOR by the incumbant
that owns the record. It's the exact opposite of doing a lookup for
routing to an exchange. In Canada it's not your Providers
responsibility, its yours and thus there is no charge to the
originator (although if you want you can still subscribe to that
service)
