I am preparing to run an asterisk setup as an in house only configuration.
This system is not intended to access the internet at all, as I am on
dial-up.
If anyone can give me some suggestions as I go into configuring this, as
this is my first time configuration.
My intended use will be as follows
[asterisk box]
192.168.0.2 -----+---- 192.168.0.1 Administration box, and main line
(extension 1 & 2)
|
+---- 192.168.0.3 Extension 3 (Windows 98 or XP)
|
+---- 192.168.0.4 Extension 4 (future
expansion)(Windows 98 or XP)
|
+---- 192.168.0.5 Extension 5 (future
expansion)(Windows 98 or XP)
|
+---- 192.168.0.6 Extension 6 (future
expansion and possible same system as extension 5 )(Windows 98 or XP)
When the asterisk box picks up the line, and after the queues I dictate
for it to jump through. I want to ring the extension requested, and if
no one is available, dump the caller to voice mail, which will be
emailed to the extension as an wav or mp3 file. Also with Fax as an
option, a fax should be emailed to a main account. (the main line)
Now, My main questions.
Is there a simple way to use the computers as a soft-phone? Is there
suggested software to do this? I gather each system(ip) will require a
headset.
Can you advise me on Open Source software that will enable me to use the
computers as a IP phone?
Also are there any plug-in's you would suggest that I make sure that I
build into asterisk?
