Greetings, The second port is simply a hard wired connection to the first port (the X100P basically has a line splitter). You can't use it for anything with asterisk.
The best way to use this port is to plug in a regular telephone (that doesn't require external power) that you can use in an emergency if your computer is turned off and/or you have no power at all.
