I just picked one up last week, and I'm having issues with it. I've
managed to get it to register with my Asterisk box, but I don't get
any sound (in either direction). There's no NAT in between the phone
and the asterisk server. I've tried using various codecs with it (it
seems to support ulaw, alaw, and ilbc). I'm going to keep trying...

Also, another thing I'm kind of disappointed with is the lack ability
to move seamlessly between Wifi and EDGE (I don't mean while on the
phone, I mean just in general). Every app seems to be prompting me
which connection I want to use, it doesnt connect to APs automatically
(at least not that I can determine). It supports the grouping of
connections, in which you can prioritize wifi access points over
edge/gprs ones. The problem is, not all applications support these
groups.

Also, there's no way I've found to use VOIP if available, and then
revert to GSM. You can set a default call type, but if the default
isnt available, it doesnt revert to the other.

Don't get me wrong, I've still happy with the phone, I moved from a
Blackberry 7100r, and while the email doesnt come anywhere close to
rivalling the Blackberry experience (that little magnet that RIM puts
in the holster can't be matched), it's still pretty good. I'm also
loving that it's a far less restrictive platform than the Blackberry,
ie all the bluetooth profiles are opened up, there's more software
available for it (including a mini version of apache and python).

I'm hopeful that at some point down the road, Nokia will come out with
a firmware upgrade for this thing that ties everything together, and
gives me the seamless access point/phone switching I'm looking for.
Maybe it's a bit foolhardy, but I choose to remain optimistic...

Just set one up last week. No big problems; lots of info on Google on how
folks have set them up with asterisk.

Not sure about the details of running on the rogers network, but my friend
(who owns the unit) didn't have any complaints.
