Which codec are you using?

It may be related to compression and lossey codec's, but I'm guessing
you're running a/ulaw which is not lossey.
If it's not codec, it is probably phone, I haven't tried the Snom's but
Polycom's quality has always impressed me.

You may also want to look at an amplified headset (Stereo) from
plantronics, that should help tremendously if the user is willing to use
it.

If they're on the phone more then 30 minutes a day (especially doing
other stuff while on the phone) then a headset is a invaluable tool.

Subject: [on-asterisk] Sound quality for hearing impaired

Hi,

I recently installed a small Asterisk based system using Snom 360
phones.

One of the users is hard of hearing and claims that the sound is not
clear and that he has a hard time hearing people and especially numbers
on the phone.

We went with the Snom's because I had heard they are good quality
business phones.

To my ears, the sound quality is just fine - Does anyone have any
recommendations as to improving the sound quality for this user. Maybe
using a different codec, or even a different phone brand that is known
for helping the hearing challenged (as a last resort).

Thanks

Martin
