As opposed to CAT3 or CAT6? You should stay away from fibreoptic ;>
PoE requires the use of the pairs that are not used in Ethernet. In
other words it uses the Brown or Blue pairs and maybe both. What I've
read says that it watches the electrical characteristics, not the signal
to determine if voltage should be applied. I would take that to mean the
category of cable is less important that just having the wires there.
