Hello all,
I'm looking for recommendations for an asterisk compliant voip provider
(and also DSL to use in conjunction with it) along with recommendations for an
interface between voip/pstn lines and analog phones.
I am considering acanac.ca... Anyone have experience with this company?
An unlimited LD and local calling plan with softphone is only $9.95/month when
purchased for a 12-month term upfront. Similarly, a 12-month DSL account paid
up-front is only $18.95/month.
I'm new to asterisk, so maybe I'm way out in left field... but I'm
looking at the possibility of using the softphone account with asterisk to
interface my analog phones in the house to the voip service. (Asterisk and a
hardware interface instead of the simple ATA adapter)
Perhaps someone can advise if the following is do-able:
1 pstn line from Bell
1 VOIP service
Asterisk and a hardware interface between the computer (or an openwrt
router) allowing:
-incoming calls on either Voip or pstn to be redirected to the analog
phones in the house.
-outgoing calls from the analog phones to be directed to the pstn line
if a local call, or to the voip line if a LD call, either automatically or
manually selectable from the analog phone, perhaps via a numeric prefix.
-outgoing calls from the softphone to be redirected similarly to pstn
for local or voip for LD
Is this kind of setup a realistic goal? comments/suggestions are
welcome including what type of hardware interface could best meet this criteria
with asterisk. Recommendations for voip and/or dsl provider in my area (Wasaga
Beach, between Collingwood and Barrie, Ontario) are also welcome.
Thanks in advance for any help in this direction, and apologies if some
of this may be considered off-topic for this list.
