Hi,

I've been using the Polycom phones for 2 years now and all of my customers seems very happy with them. We also started using the new Aastra 57i phones which are way better than the previous 480i series.

In order to help provision all the Polycom phones (over 250x phones on one single network), I designed a web UI integrated within FreePBX framework (compatible with Trixbox). I also designed a web UI to provision the Aastra phones with the expansion modules. One of our customer who's not a Linux fan at all is able to manage all of his 250x Polycom Phones using our web UI to provision all the options. With the right tools running on your Asterisk server, the Polycom phones can be very easy to configure.

To get the phones to work behind a NAT router, I purchased a SnapGear router with the built in SIP outbound proxy. It works perfectly with multiple Polycom phones behind the router.

The startup time isn't too bad. It's a little bit longer than a regular ATA, but similar to other SIP phones I've seen out there.

Cheers.
