Welcome on board and glad you made it to the IT360 conference. ALL Canadian
speakers at the IT360 event with regards to Asterisk including myself are here
in the TAUG group. We hang out every last Tuesday/Wednesday of the month.

ticked off Jim now, who is the writer of the Asterisk, Future of Telephony...
who was also among the research group in Nortel when their PBX was getting
started.
Jim LOVES to hear the word BCM BCM BCM and NORTEL NORTEL NORTEL :). Actually
he dreams about Nortel BCMs and Nortel gear being eaten by Asterisk for
breakfast!
Only 4 words from me: Stay Away From Nortel Gear :). Recently we have outbid
a Nortel contractor with not only price but also features & support for a
client... giving the client features beyond the Nortel world and allowing
remote workers to connect with each other without long distance charges.
Asterisk is the right choice. You have MORE control. You can train your staff
to handle Telecom needs at your office. You can fix issues remotely.
Including myself, there are a dozen other consultants here who can assist you.
If you want flexibility & scalability, Asterisk is the way to go. There are
folks in here who used to sell Nortel gear and are ashamed of it now :). Spare
parts, PRI cards, etc., all readily and easily available.

Hello Everyone,
I met a few of you at the IT360 conference......I am in Windsor and I am
new to Asterisk. I just got Asterisk running at home on Ubuntu with a linksys
3102 very cool. I work in the health care industry and I am partly responsible
for the telephony at 3 large sites separated by long distance charges. Our
sites are all Nortel (2 norstar and 1 meridian 11c) with 4 PRIs and about 275
sets and growning...... Our organization is going to sign a VOR agreement for
VOIP soon with someone big (using Nortel or Mitel likely) for all of Ontario
but we do have the option to do our own thing. I would love to put Asterisk in
between the PRI and the Nortel PBX's to start with but the phone system is
critical and I don't trust myself.
