I believe there are two different standards for POE, you might have some
luck reversing the polarity, make a patch swapping pins 4 with 7 and 5 with
8 on one end. Or, I believe you can also buy a converter that does the same
thing.

I had to do this for Cisco 7960 phones and PowerDsine POE.

Subject: [on-asterisk] Cisco 3524XL-PWR + Linksys SPA942 = No Go?

My plans were to hook up my Linksys SPA942 sets to a Cisco 3524XL PWR
switch. I grabbed a set from it's box this afternoon to test that the PoE
works and voila! Nothing!

I've only managed to find one discussion on the topic and to paraphrase it's
contents, it goes like this "I tried to hook up the phone and it doesn't
power on", and the reply was "the Cisco 3524XL PWR isn't PoE standard, it
was meant to work with Cisco IP phones".

I seem to be asking this question a lot lately wrt to Asterisk: Am I sunk?
Is the Switch + Phone combination not going to work? Has anyone tried to
use PoE phones on this switch and gotten it working?

Thanks in advance for any replies..

-Marc
