Simplest I can think of is,
exten => X.,1,Dial(....
if your lines are defined in a group your dial plan would look something like
this
exten => X.,1,Dial(Zap/g1/${EXTEN},60,r)
What this states is that any digit followed by any number of characters (.) is
to be passed out
of the Zap channel (pstn phones lines) with group id 1 and ring it for 60
seconds and generate ring tones for you sets.
If your phones are subscribed to a context with this simple dial plan listed
above and your are still having trouble, refer to how you have setup your
zaptel configs.
further more to trouble shooting beyond that set debugging on your asterisk
console for the appropriate channel(s) in question and watch for errors or
statements which should indicate what you have configured incorrectly.
Now some more recent versions of asterisk I have noted that the . rule is not
been deprecated, so instead of . you might want to do exten =>
XXXXXXXXXX,1,Dial(... for any 10 digit number

Subject: [on-asterisk] RE: The Calling/Dialing Plan
I've been having problems understanding the calling plan. I am able to
get the asterisk box to accept calls (and in the middle of creating the
IVR directories now)...
However, For some reason I can not get it to dial an outside line.
Can someone direct me to a very simple 'dial anything' plan that I can
build off.? I work straight to pstn and have long distance blocked at
the provider so long distance is not an issue.
