I'm not sure if this will be useful to anyone else; but I hit a snag this
week when trying to port a phone number from Bell Mobility Prepaid to
Unlimitel.

Unlimitel said I needed a copy of my printed invoice, as required by Rogers,
who do their porting. Without the invoice, they say Rogers will refuse to
do the port.

However, my Bell Mobility phone account is/was prepaid, and no matter who I
spoke with at Bell's phone-service, they said they would and could not print
me a statement of my account. They said that all you should need to port a
number is the phone number and account number. End of story, according to
them.

I was going to call back and camp out in their phone-queues until I found
somebody who had authority to print a statement, when I thought to call one
of the local Bell stores. This turned out to be the answer. They have the
ability to print a "account profile" in person if I give them my
phone-number and picture ID. Done, in 30 minutes, and the fax was sent off
to Unlimitel this afternoon.

Now I just have to wait however long it takes for the number to port-
Stephen at Unlimitel says it's an average of 30 days in Roger's hands!

Ah well, it's underway at least. And I hope this info eventually helps
someone else out as well.
