Absolutely. Finding a way to trigger Asterisk to re-register is the
trick. You could just set the register interval quite low but its not
ideal.

If you are using an external device then the default gw would not
change.

I'm wondering if any of these types of devices have a method of
signaling when then have failed-over? I'm guessing there may be some
that support logging to an external syslog or use SNMP.

If so, it would be fairly straight forward to capture those messages and
have asterisk re-register.

Again, I'm hoping someone on this list has more experience with these
types of devices.
