Hi Ansar, I picked up a D-Link DPH 540 about a year ago. It's been great for home usage, but there's a serious lack of functionality in the phone. The reality is that the phone amounts to little more than a cordless phone (of course having a cordless anywhere there's wifi is a nice bonus). There is no web browsing on the phone (which means the phone does not work on any network you have to login to a portal page for). Audio quality is great once the call is established, but setting up the call once the other side picks up seems to take an abnormally long time (most times the called party can say, "Hello?" at least once before I hear them). Like Henry mentioned about his Linksys, battery life is a concern with this phone also.
Talking to D-Link about these issues got me bounced between five departments before someone finally admitted they had no staff that supported this phone. All in all, it's a nice little phone for home usage, and it's certainly nice to have a wifi phone in major cities where wifi is everywhere... But I wouldn't put this phone into a customer's hands. Cheers, AR ________________________________________________________ Alex Robar, Technical Support, GearyTech Inc. 3075 Fourteenth Avenue, Unit 3, Markham, Ontario L3R 0G9 Markham: 905-513-8000 x 223 Fax: 905-513-8040 Toronto: 416-226-3614 Toll Free: 888-890-3499 [EMAIL PROTECTED] www.gearytech.com Strategic management of technology for business. -----Original Message----- From: Ansar Mohammed [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, December 04, 2007 12:57 AM To: 'Toronto Asterisk UG' Subject: [on-asterisk] Wifi Sip Phones Hello All, I considered purchasing a Wifi Phone for my asterisk server about a year ago, but I was deeply disappointed with the reviews.
