No arguments here. It's not a panacea by any means, but for $15 it does one heck of a good job of delivering a small, light, good-sounding handsfree unit. > Not to mention all the fun and games of getting the computer > to send audio to 1 device and yada yada... I would say that the sound system in PCs has never worked well with telephony. A big problem is that PC microphones and DSPs aren't tuned for the kind of audio a DS0 is desiged for. I would say this is part of the magic of Skype: they took this into account and engineered their codecs to be better aligned with typical PC audio systems. I think that's why this little beastie makes me smile; I don't find myself having to tweak the microphone gain controls to get things sounding right. It pretty much does what is needed; when I plug it in it is pretty much good to go. This is a $15 peripheral, so it needs to be evaluated in that context.
