A little while back, I started this discussion thread on scraping. It was prompted by a brief discussion with Les at Les.net on monitoring my balance. He provided a link such that it's easy to check your balance and using that, I quickly put together a little php code to post it to your Aastra phone.
Naturally, that got me thinking…LesNet is actually pretty good in that he sends you a low balance alert if you turn it on. Being a user of Virgin Mobile phones too, I have one for myself and another for my wife. I've hit the $0 balance a few times since their warning threshold comes at $1 or 3 minutes of talk time…get real… who has less than a 3 minute call unless it's your significant other calling you to tell you what groceries to get. Why can't I get the balance from my Virgin Mobile account and show it at my phone… Now you can… I've posted it to my blog at the taug web site http://www.taug.ca/node/114 <http://www.taug.ca/node/114> . If you want the lesnet code, pull it first at http://davebour.com/asterisk/display-prepaid-les.net-account-on-phone.html <http://davebour.com/asterisk/display-prepaid-les.net-account-on-phone.html> On another note, Simon's done a great job of putting a web site up. Simon's asked for more content of the group and I will reiterate it. I think I currently hold the honour of most posted articles there. I don't want that title hence please join in… let's get a few more up there… Check out some of the articles I've got. Everything to an excel template to do desi strips on your Aastra 536M, Telemarketer identification, start of a thread on getting your outlook contact data into the Asterisk database for better callerid and using that same database to build a better directory for your Aastra phone (loads last called/received call where CID available) (and also email you back the contacts you're missing), a couple tweaks to the Visual voicemail provided by Aastra including the autoanswer under Asterisk 1.4 not working, and finally, my first post, how to get ChanSkype going, a skype interface into Asterisk…albeit that one has a couple issues to be resolved when I get chance. There you have it, the challenge to the group… And in the nature of good marketing…a teaser…there was a post a while back about being able to flag individual voicemail accounts on your set if you have multiple accounts at the phone rather than having to check each account to see which one had an vmail since the MWI was flashing. it's 80% done. Watch for a post to the blog section at the Taug web site by the end of the week.
