Google's Android platform will be hitting production by late this year coming out on a variety of hardware devices. If an open cell phone OS is what you are after then it would seem this is the way to go?
Google open source? You think they're going to let you tinker with the code that displays adSense on their phone that they let you use? Maybe so, but don't count on it. OpenMoko hardware is (nearly) here now. Android "will be hitting production" so they say: I have an OpenMoko Freerunner in hand, so I know it's not vaporware.
